Begin your day with a morning excursion, where you will have the chance to catch a glimpse of the authentic lifestyle of the "Cariocas", the people who call Rio their home. Your tour will begin with a walk to the nearest metro station, where you will take the subway and travel for 15 minutes. As you walk along the bustling streets, you will visit the historic and commercial center of Rio, highlighting the Metropolitan Cathedral of San Sebastian and the Saara neighborhood. This afternoon, your exploration continues with a panoramic city tour. Start your outing with a visit to the Maracana, the most popular soccer stadium in the world, before continuing on to the Sambadrome. This is an area specially built for the extravagant parade of samba schools, that perform every year during Carnival. You will pass through Rio's financial center, a mix of modern and colonial styles, with a short stop to admire the famous Cathedral of San Sebastian as well.

After exploring the city streets, you will proceed to the Sugarloaf Mountain (Pao de Acucar) lookout, which boasts the best 360 degree views of Rio de Janeiro. Only 7 kilometers from Recife, you will find Olinda, whose name truly reflects the beauty of its location. Olinda is a colonial city constructed on seven hills and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its well conserved villas and its magnificent Dutch style Baroque architecture. Life in Olinda is full of cultural interest. The colonial buildings are filled with art studios and authentic artisan workshops, and the town has a bohemian atmosphere, unique to anywhere else in the country. Olinda also hosts one of the liveliest parties during the famous Carnival of Olinda!

Half Day Walking Tour

This morning, you will take off on a guided walking tour of Olinda, to make the most of your time here. This charming city is one of the oldest in Brazil, founded back in 1535! Legend has it, that the name "Olinda" comes from the exclamation of its founder when arriving there, "Oh, linda situacao para se construir uma vila!" ("Oh, pretty setting to build a village!"). Sure enough, the view from the top truly is beautiful, as the rustic colonial houses blend together with the green palm trees, blue sky and endless ocean panoramas.
