Desert & Delta Botswana Adventure

The Kalahari stretches evocatively across most of Botswana, a redolent desert that's defined by surprise. For this is not just a dusty and deserted desert. The Okavango Delta occupies its heart, a fabulous oasis of life that provides surreal safari experiences. Stunning salt pans flitter where lakes used to be while tumbling rivers create elephant-engulfed woodland. It's all Botswana, yet it's all very different. This 13-day safari combines a mobile camping experience in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve with time spent in more luxurious safari lodges deep in the heart of the Okavango Delta. The mobile safari offers an insight into the culture and history of the Kalahari's oldest inhabitants. It is ideal for the adventure enthusiast offering breathtaking scenery, desert wildlife and the privilege of an introduction to the traditional lifestyle of the San Bushmen. In the Central Kalahari, you'll follow the wildlife prints, but once in the game-rich Delta, you can sit back on your camp verandah (or mokoro canoe) and watch the wildlife roam past. Leopards roam through the trees, zebra and elephant herds splash through the water, hippos roll in the mud, and lions stalk the various antelope. For big game encounters, the Okavango Delta is one of the finest places in all of Africa.

It is also wild, pristine and expansive. Thirty-nine percent of the country is protected in some form or another, including almost the entire northern third of the country, and its national parks and reserves provide a safe haven for some 85 species of mammal and over 1,075 species of bird.
