Plettenberg Park is an exclusive and unique hotel found in the heart of the South African Garden Route and yet only minutes away from the holiday mecca of Plettenberg Bay. The hotel is situated in a private nature reserve, nestled on the edge of a cliff, offering dramatic and sweeping views of the Indian Ocean. At Plettenberg Park, the accent is on uniqueness, time honoured values, excellent personal service and superb cuisine.
Open spaces and the symmetry of both natural and man-made structures play many roles at Plettenberg Park, not only in terms of the panoramic views across the ocean and savannah behind, but also within the architecture of the hotel itself. The architecture is refreshingly simple, with long lines running unobtrusively the length of the builfing resulting in spacious windows and wide terraces. The decor consists of natural materials and neutral tones that permeate throughout.
The original wing consists of 4 bedrooms (2 sea-facing and 2 lake-facing), while the new wing consists of 5 large sea-facing rooms, offering unrivalled views of the Cape's beautiful coastline. Rooms contain large sleigh beds, both single and double, fireplace, television,VCR minibar and coffee-making facilities. There is also a range of complimentary food and toiletry items for the guests disposal.
The real beauty of spending your vacation at Plettenberg Park lies in the unique concept of having your entire holiday planned solely around your needs. The chef will discuss the dinner menu with you in person during the afternoon and will happily create a menu around your specific request ensuring that the presented fare that evening is exactly to your taste.
As the sun disappears behind the sea-cliffs whilst you sip your sundowner, you can choose to dine indoors, around the pool by candlelight, or on the sea-deck by lantern-light, as you prefer.
Plettenberg Park is situated on 200 hectares of land with approximately 3km of cliff-faced shoreline. The Park has three natural wetlands plus a large dam filled with bass. The Park abounds with small game and animals such as Grysbok, Mongoose, Baboons, Bushbuck, Cape Clawless Otter and over 65 different bird species. Plettenberg Park's beautiful coastline is a perfect platform from which to view the humpback whales that visit this stretch of ocean in the winter, as well as the numerous schools of dolphin that are playful residents all year round.
Relax in the sun at Cove Beach, situated right below the hotel, or spend the day around the hotel swimming pool. Boat trips can be arranged to view the seals, dolphins, sharks, penguins or whales. Or you can hike through the Tsitsikamma Forest or the renowned Robberg Nature Reserve. For the adventurous, experience the world-famous Storms River Canyon- a playground for river rafting, climbing, bungi-jumping, kloofing, mountain-biking, fishing, diving and snorkeling.
