A week of adventure and discovery. Visit the Masai Mara to witness the splendor of African wildlife. As this is also the home of the Maasai people, our tour of the area would be incomplete without a visit to one of the Maasai villages to interact with the people and learn about their culture. Continue on to the Great Rift Valley and discover beautiful scenery, flora and fauna. Tour the bird rich lakes against a backdrop of stunning volcanic mountains and escarpments. Explore the hot springs, cliffs and rock towers of the Great Rift Valley.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 - Nairobi - Masai Mara

From Nairobi, we drive via the Maasai town of Narok arriving at the Masai Mara for lunch and an afternoon game drive. We’ll camp overnight on the eastern edge of the Mara.

Day 2 - Masai Mara

The vast grassland plains of the Mara are scattered with herds of Zebra, Giraffe, Gazelle & Topi as well as Lion, Cheetah, Leopard, Elephant & Buffalo amongst others. Each year the Mara plays host to the world's greatest natural spectacle, the Great Wildebeest Migration from the Serengeti. After an exciting day of game drives you will return to your camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 - Masai Mara - Maji Moto

Leave after breakfast for a two-hour drive to Maji Moto, a remote Maasai village at the slopes of the Loita hills. ‘Maji Moto’ is a Swahili word that means ‘hot water’ and the place derives this name from the nearby hot springs. The Maasai live as they have done for centuries in a traditional and sophisticated culture. After lunch we visit a Maasai homestead (“boma”) for insights into their fascinating culture and way of life – dinner round camp-fire, starlit skies and sleep to the sounds of the African night.

Day 4 - Maji Moto - Lake Naivasha

There is a 2-3 hour walking safari along a small river course and through the savanna for wildlife viewing with the Maasai as guides and interpreters of their lands. You can take a refreshing dip in the hot spring water and walk amongst giraffe, impala, zebra and wildebeest. We’ll then drive up to Lake Naivasha and camp overnight by the lakeside.

Day 5 - Lake Naivasha - Hell's Gate

Leave the camp for a morning walking safari in Hell's Gate National park. Here we walk amongst herds of zebra, gazelle and giraffe with a dramatic volcanic backdrop of soaring lava cliffs, steaming volcanic vents and hot springs. Transfer back to our camp for lunch. Optional afternoon boat ride on Lake Naivasha, a vast freshwater lake, famed for its bird life particularly fish eagles, love-birds and pelicans. There are also many hippos. Overnight at the camp.

Day 6 - Lake Naivasha - Lake Nakuru

Leave after breakfast for a one hour drive to Lake Nakuru, a soda lake famous for pink flamingos. This is the perfect place to watch the rhino but there are several other animals includes buffalo, giraffe, impala, lion etc. Overnight at Wildlife Clubs of Kenya Guesthouse or camp overnight inside the park.

Day 7 - Lake Nakuru - Nairobi Departure

After a final morning game drive return to Nairobi.

Mara Manyatta Campsite

The Mara Manyatta Campsite is in the world famous Masai Mara Game reserve. The tents are spacious and erected on hard surfaces and are covered with Makuti to protect against the harsh weather conditions such as rain and heat. All tents are en-suite with built in toilet, hot shower, mosquito nets, electric lights, and power sockets. Enjoy meals cooked by the resident camp Chef.

Maji Moto Community Campsite

The people of Maji Moto warmly welcome you! They invite you to get in touch with Maasai culture and the beautiful nature of southern Kenya. Spend a few days in the Maji Moto Campsite. Carnelley’s Campsite

Carnelley’s is a tranquil campsite with beautiful bushy grounds. The monkeys swing from the trees and the hippos graze on the pier. Over the years Camp Carnelley's has become one of the most famous locations on Lake Naivasha. Wildlife Clubs of Kenya: Lake Nakuru Guesthouse

Once an old colonial farmhouse, built in the 1930’s, the Lake Nakuru Guest House is catered for adult parties and families. It offers classic comfortable accommodation and an excellent base for game drives. There is a fully equipped kitchen with cooker, fridge/freezer and microwave, shower with hot water (when requested). A sitting room with an open fire and bedrooms, can accommodate up to 18 persons. On the veranda, you can relax in the evenings while watching the spectacular African sunset. Its rooftop veranda offers you the best panoramic view of the entire Nakuru National park. It is truly an “Out of Africa Experience”.
