Global Basecamps believes that a successful business, especially in the travel industry, is dependent on a healthy environment, both globally and locally. We believe that growth and corporate responsibility should work hand in hand and that capitalism and conservation are not mutually exclusive. We have undertaken the following initiatives in order to minimize the impact our growing company has on the environment while supporting international organizations that ensure that there are always beautiful places to send our clients to.

Global Basecamps Globally

Global Basecamps is dedicated to the support of organizations whose focus protects the resources that make world travel possible. We strive to minimize the ill-effects of corporate growth while maximizing support of worldwide conservation efforts. GBC will donate 4% of all post-tax profits in the following areas:

• Conservation Management

  GBC supports the efforts of Conservation International, the World Wildlife Fund and the Wildlife Conservation Society in creating a global network of protected areas and corresponding management plans that will ensure the health of ecosystems across the globe.

• Ecotourism

  GBC is actively involved with the International Ecotourism Society and supports the creation of an international standard of guidelines set forth to ensure that the goals of sustainable tourism are met. The product choices reflect this commitment and we seek out vendor partners who integrate environmental and socially responsible principles into practice.

  GBC is also a member of IMEC’s Partnership for Responsible Travel Program. The International Mountain Explorers Connection (IMEC) is a U.S. based 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization whose mission is to promote responsible and sustainable connections between travelers and the people of developing mountain regions of the world. As a partner of this program Global Basecamps is supporting their Porters Assistance Project.

• The Un-Millenium Project

  GBC has pledged 1% of all post-tax profits to the eradication of global poverty, hunger and disease in the third world by supporting the United Nations Millennium Project. More than 1 Billion people worldwide live in abject poverty and the UNMP aims to provide safe water, proper nutrition, basic health care and most importantly a financial investment in sustainable local development to further global stability, international security and environmental protection.

Global Basecamps Locally

GBC is also dedicated to supporting our local environs by doing the following:

• Offsetting energy use to minimize our carbon footprint
• Green Procurement, use of recycled paper, minimize office waste, cradle to grave office purchases
