Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 - Matemwe

Arrive into Zanzibar and meet to transfer to the north-eastern beach at Matemwe. Upon registration, be shown to your room which is full of all the comforts you need for Zanzibar – luxurious bedding, romantic netting, views to the ocean, air conditioning, fans, in room safe and so on. There are two intimate pools set in lush tropical gardens – this makes Matemwe the ultimate paradise escape.

Day 2 - Matemwe

Relax and rejuvenation – be as active or as rested as you prefer

Day 3 - Matemwe

Located opposite Mnemba Atoll, the hotspot for scuba diving and snorkeling on Zanzibar. Their chef is second to none – and the cuisine is a fusion of Swahili and modern menus, taking advantage of the abundance of local seafood.

Day 4 - Matemwe - Stone Town

After a delicious buffet breakfast, transfer to Stone Town. We are thrown into days gone by as we visit Spice Plantations enroute – learning how spices are grown and used throughout the world. You will receive a palm-woven basket to collect a pocket full of dynamite for the senses. We arrive into Stone Town to check in and then have the afternoon for exploration. Stone Town is a maze of ancient alleyways and aromas from yesteryear. We enjoy an afternoon walking historical tour of Stone Town – visit the major points of interest around Stone Town including the House of Wonders, Persian baths and Slave Holding areas. There are many places to explore for lunch and dinner, and your guide/hotel will help with your decisions and directions. Overnight in a Zanzibar style suite that oozes romance and the exotic isle you are on.

Day 5 - Stone Town

A day for your own exploration and shopping. Get lost in the alleyways, enter the shopping areas to bargain for a treasure and become fascinated by the Arab influenced architecture.

Day 6 - Zanziber and beyond...

Transfer to Zanzibar departure point for your travel beyond.

The walks within the tribal areas are carried out by our own guides in conjunction with the local, tribal guide – this allows easy translation and interpretation. Many of the areas have an array of plant & bird life so binoculars often assist in exact identification.
