Escape to Bushmans Kloof, a heavenly wilderness reserve and a retreat of unparalleled beauty and recreational diversity. This refuge for body and soul is surrounded by thousands of acres of majestic beauty and wind-sculpted landscape of reddish sandstone rock formations in the heart of the Cederberg Mountains, Western Cape, South Africa.
Accommodating a maximum of 32 guests, all suites and guest rooms are elegantly appointed and furnished to create a feeling of restfulness and peace. Guest rooms are either in cottages set among landscaped gardens and pools or a part of the original Manor House (circa 1843). The warm heart of Bushmans Kloof, the Homestead, is set away from the guest rooms and welcomes guests to its convivial bar, wine-cellar, world-ranked restaurant and dining terrace. There are two stylish lounges; one with a large flat-screen television, DVD and satellite reception and the other, a traditional drawing room perfect for after-dinner drinks and conversation around the fireside. A comprehensive library and DVD collection is available together with a desk and wireless internet facilities. The Conference Room, Heritage Centre, Fitness Centre and Massage Area form one wing of the Homestead, which is built around a sunny terrace and the heated jet pool.
Participate in outdoor activities or do simply nothing by enjoying the peaceful solitude pampered by outdoor massages, body treatments and skincare by our experienced spa therapists. Then enrich yourself with one of the oldest cultures of mankind; Bushmans Kloof is a custodian for over 130 rock art-sites, painted by South African's earliest inhabitants, the San Bushmen, who roamed the region since the Stone Age. Hidden under overhanging cliffs and within rocky shelters, these art-sites have been meticulously preserved and recorded. Your educational journey will continue at the Research Centre, which pays tribute to these long-forgotten people, exhibiting artefacts sourced by late anthropologist, Yalmar Rudner and others.
