Tsara Komba EcoLodge
Nosy Komba, Madagascar
Prices From: $309 per person
Tsara Komba Lodge or “TK“ is situated in the north west of Madagascar, to the south of the island of Nosy Komba (also known as lemur island), 25 minutes away from Nosy Be by boat. Nosy Komba is a superb island formed on an ancient volcano that today is covered with a primal forest. Its gentle breeze, its bird songs and the crashing of the waves make this an unforgettable paradise surrounded by a turquoise sea and dotted with fine sandy beaches. At the Tsara Komba Lodge, the only way to travel is on foot, by pirogue or by boat.
Built on a hillside, nestled in the heart of a breathtaking tropical garden spanning several hectares between the forest and the beach, the highly authentic Luxury Eco-lodge is comprised of just eight lodgings, which blend in perfectly with the outstanding private nature reserve, guaranteeing an intimate and cosy setting for guests.
The lodges and the verandas boast outstanding views across the bay for a sunny start to the day and a colourful end to the evenings. The abundant vegetation surrounding the lodge offers all the obvious benefits of cool and shaded surroundings.
The lodges are extremely comfortable and attractive. They are constructed in a streamlined architectural style, from wood and traditional materials such as rosewood or sohihy, in shades of brown and subtle complementary tones. The roofs are thatched with Ravinala leaves (from the Travellers’ tree) and are high enough to allow air to circulate freely.
Just a stone's throw from your lodge you will find a superb beach where sun beds are laid out on the fine sand or in the shade of the palm trees. Take a walk alongside the clear blue water perfect for bathing.
The ecolodge offers activities like:
Sustainability Commitment:
At Tsara Komba Lodge, they work based on detailed procedures in order to maintain best practices such as recycling (with schemes in place to recycle metal, plastics and packaging as well as household waste) and the use of environmentally friendly materials (such as commercially grown wood and local plants, etc).
They take care to ensure the prudent use of water, which is drawn from a water source and which arrives at the lodges thanks to a gravity-fed system. Wastewater undergoes natural filtering and is used to irrigate the gardens, which are also fertilised with compost produced on site.
Finally, to limit the impact of CO2 emissions, they use solar boilers for warm water, take advantage of the economical hours for electricity generation and use low voltage lighting.
