Lalitha Mahal Palace

At the foot of Chamundi Hill, just outside the royal city of Mysore, stands the Lalitha Mahal Palace Hotel. This shimmering white palace was built in 1931 for special guests of the Maharajas. Today the Lalitha Mahal is one of India's most opulent hotels, a splendid Italianate palazzo, double-columned and domed, set in sprawling terraced gardens.

The accommodation at this Heritage Hotel consists of 54 stately suites and rooms. The Viceroy, Vicerine, Duplex Suites and rooms of the Hotel are of princely proportions. They are cool and airy with plenty of natural light, period furniture and four poster beds. The luxurious bathrooms are equipped with original Shanks of Scotland plumbing fixtures.

The erstwhile Ballroom has been turned into a Gourmet Restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The stunning Durbar ambience is complete with rich lace curtains and Jharokas. On the balcony, fragant magnolia and mogra flowers decorate each table where guests can enjoy dining on some of the finest array of South Indian cuisine.

For the sports enthusiasts there is a swimming pool, billiard room, tennis court, jogging track and a Health Club. The Lalitha Mahal Palace Hotel also has relations with the local Sheri Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar Golf Course for the benefit of golf enthusiasts.

The Softouch Ayurvedic Center offers traditional treatments, yoga and courses on Ayurvedic practices. The center is run in collaboration with ashtavaidhyan Thaikkattu Mooss "Vaidyaratnam Oushadhasala". Thaikkattu Mooss was conferred the Vaidyaratnam Award by the British Emperor in the 1920's for his contribution in the field of Ayurveda.
