Japan Earthquake Tsunami Relief

On March 11, 2011 Japan was hit by one of the largest earthquakes ever recorded. The 9.0 magnitude quake was followed by a deadly tsunami that hit the nation’s northeast coast. The death toll continues to rise and thousands remain missing in the aftermath of the tragic catastrophe. The disaster has greatly saddened us and our thoughts are with those affected. Below is a list of organizations contributing to relief and recovery for Japan.

Red Cross

American Red Cross: The American Red Cross is accepting financial donations that are being sent to the Japanese Red Cross. You can donate online or send a text message with the word “REDCROSS” to 90999. The text message will result in a $10 donation. Donate here.

GlobalGiving: Global Giving established a fund that will support organizations providing relief and aid to victims in Japan. US residents can text JAPAN to 50555 to give $10. Donate here.

UNICEF USA: The U.S. Fund for UNICEF (USF) is raising funds to help children in Japan impacted by the recent earthquake and tsunami. These may include health, development and protection and other needs that may have been compromised or disrupted in the wake of catastrophe. Text JAPAN to 864233 to donate $10 or donate here.

Real Medicine Foundation: Real Medicine Foundation has partnered with a Japanese non-profit in Tokyo, Japanese Emergency NGO (JEN) to deliver aid and supplies to those most affected. Donate here.

World Vision: Your donation will help rush emergency supplies like life-saving food, clean water, medical supplies, and shelter to those who need it most in the aftermath of the disaster in Japan. Donate here.

Save the Children: Save the Children has a team in Sendai, one of the worst-affected areas, establishing an operations base to help the most vulnerable children and their families. Donate here.
