Give the Gift of Travel

Instead of fighting your way through the malls and struggling to come up with great gift ideas, why not give your loved one the gift of travel? By giving the gift of travel you are offering someone an incredible experience that can broaden horizons, lead to self discovery, or simply offer a little relief from the day to day. We recently asked a few of our Facebook fans what has travel taught you? Here are a few of the responses they came up with.

MacKenzie: I have learned to try to stop judging people on their outward appearance and to try to drop expectations.

Deborah: Travel taught me to go with the flow and to realize that a smile means the same thing in any language!

An: Traveling has taught me that the unexpected moments are the most memorable.

This holiday season give someone the experience of a lifetime (and why not buy a gift for yourself and go with them?).

Suggested Destinations

If travel is the gift you’ll be giving this season, or hoping to get, where in the world should one travel this time of year? Here are a few suggested travel destinations for the upcoming months.

Hokkaido

Hokkaido, Japan

If you are looking for an exotic ski destination Hokkaido, Japan is the place. Hokkaido is the second largest, northernmost island of Japan. It is characterized by four distinct seasons, with winter having lots of snowfall and sometimes temperatures below 0 degrees. It is a great place for skiing and snowboarding with lots of excellent powder snow. When flying into Hokkaido’s airport, you will often need to transfer through Tokyo and Osaka. So enjoy the great city life Japan has to offer by spending a few days in Tokyo or Osaka before heading to the mountains of Hokkaido.

Kerala,India

Kerala, India

For a more tropical getaway Kerala, India is a great option. Kerala is located in the south western region of the country and is known for its backwaters, beaches, and waterfalls. The major cities of Kerala are Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, and Kozhikode. The language of Kerala is Malayalam, though English is widely spoken. The average temperatures in February through May are 75-91 °F. The climate is great most of the year, with the exception of monsoons which can be from June to November, making the post holiday months a great time to visit Kerala!

Phu Quoc

Phu Quoc, Vietnam

Phu Quoc, Vietnam offers another escape from the cold winter months. These subtropical islands offer the best climate from November to March, when the temperatures are consistently 77-82 °F and the humidity isn’t too high. Phu Quoc is known for its white sand beaches, untouched natural environment, laid back atmosphere, and the incredible scuba diving and snorkeling. Escape from the cold after the holidays and soak up the sun in Phu Quoc!
