This fully customizable itinerary highlights the northwestern parts of Argentina as well as the famous waterfalls in Iguazu. The adventure begins in Buenos Aires, where you will have an in depth tour of the city as well as some leisure time before you head to Salta. Enjoy the wonders of Argentina's northwestern territory such as the Calchaqui Valleys, Cafayate, Purmamarca and Humahuaca before you depart for Puerto Iguazu. Enjoy views of the majestic waterfalls from both the Argentine and Brazilian sides of the falls.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival In Buenos Aires

Welcome to Argentina! Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your accommodations to spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2 - Buenos Aires

Today you will get to explore Buenos Aires in a private 4 hour city tour. Discover the beauty and wonders of Buenos Aires; view the National Congress, the Metropolitan Cathedral next to the Government House in May square area. Continue to the Colon Theater, one of the most important opera houses in Latin America. Visit San Telmo, a traditional neighborhood where Tango performances can be seen in many bars and restaurants. Stop by in La Boca, a colorful neighborhood, which was the seat of immigrants, mainly Italians, and now home of some artists. Enjoy Palermo, an area that combines its architecture and history with entertainment and amusement in its green spaces. Finally head to La Recoleta, an exclusive and elegant neighborhood where the famous cemetery is found. Although it may seem unusual, fashionable restaurants, bars, cafes, discos and a cinema complex also surround the area.

This evening, enjoy a tango show while enjoying an authentic Argentine dinner. El Querandi is an authentic Tangueria which combines the cultural aspects of local cuisine with the most authentic Argentine artistic expression, the Tango. (Shared transfer to/from show).

Day 3 - Buenos Aires

Today you will have a day at leisure to explore the city. Recommendations include a Gaucho Party, more information upon request.

Day 4 - Buenos Aires – Salta

Today you will be picked up from your accommodations and transfer the Domestic Airport for your flight to Salta. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

After you have settled in, you will head on a tour of Salta. Places you will visit included the church of San Francisco, the historic Museum of the North, and San Bernardo Hill. The tour continues to the summer holiday village of San Lorenzo where you can gaze over its well known ravine. The tour finishes with a visit to the handcraft market.

Day 5 - Calchaqui Valleys

Today you will follow a circuit that will lead you through the Lerma Valley up to El Carri, where the tour will start heading west. After Chicoana the trip will continue along the Quebrada de Escoipe. Enjoy many panoramic views as the vehicle climbs the Custa de Obispo. Following the Tin Tin Straight, you will come upon a small and ancient town called Cachi. It is a picturesque village in the Calchaqui Valleys, where the traditions and myths are still alive. Visit the town and its famous museum before heading to the traditional towns of Seclantas & Molinos Village, Moon Valley of Las Flechas Gorge, Angastaco, San Carlos, and end your trip in Cafayate.

Day 6 - Cafayate – Salta

Today you will tour around Cafayate and spend some time in the local artisans market. You may want to visit a winery before heading back to Salta. You will make your way back to Salta via the Quebrada de Las Conchas, Conchas Gorge. Rive along the fertile Lerma Valley where you will pass different towns and tobacco plantations as you drive back into Salta.

Day 7 - Purmamarca Tour

As you make your way to Purmamarca you will pass the villages of Volcan, Tumbaya and Maimara. Finally you will head into the beautiful town of Purmamarca at the base of the Seven Color Hill. You will have time to visit the handicraft market and to walk around the village.

Day 8 - Humahuaca

Today you will head to Tilcara to visit the archeological museum and the Pucara ruins, an age old aboriginal fortress. You will head through Huacalera and Uquia as you make your way to Humahuaca, the largest and most important city in this region. Walk around this picturesque town before returning to Salta in the afternoon.

Day 9 - Salta – Buenos Aires – Iguazu

Today you will board your flight to Iguazu via Buenos Aires. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your accommodations to spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 10 - Iguazu Falls: Argentinean Side

Today you will explore the 275 cascades from the Argentine side of the falls. There are countless footbridges and paths that will allow you to view the falls from many different perspectives. The tour starts at the Visitor’s Center and follows the Superior Circuit giving you a panoramic view of the water falls. Continue onto the Lower Circuit and walk the 1,000 meter footbridge to view the impressive Garganta de Diablo. The tour will include a ride on the Ecological Train of the Jungle and a visit to the Nature Interpretation Center.

Day 11 - Iguazu Falls – Brazilian Side – Buenos Aires

Today you will briefly head into Brazil to view the falls from the opposite side as the day before. The tour begins at the Visitors Center where thematic buses will take you to the beginning of the footbridges. Wander through the many walkways and balconies until you reach Puerto Canoas, a food and shopping area.

When the tour is done, you will be picked up and transferred to the airport for your flight to Buenos Aires. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. After checking in, you will have the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 12 - Buenos Aires Departure

Sadly this is your last day in Argentina. You will be picked up at your hotel and transferred to the international airport for your outbound flight home.
