About Us - Management

Global Basecamps was created for two simple reasons: to bring a new type of lodging and tour option to online travel and to redesign the booking experience. Tired with limited choices and boring interfaces we wanted the experience of researching and booking hotels, lodges and tours to reflect the excitement that we felt while we were actually traveling. We come from a variety of backgrounds ranging from biogeography to sales, IT Database design to restaurant management but we share a common set of values and more importantly a common sense of awe at the world around us. We’re excited to be able to share what we’ve found over the last five years and are always on the lookout for the next new destination, lodge or excursion. We’ve found that the best travel advice always comes from the friend of a friend who’s already been there so consider us a friend of a friend and know that we’re here for you if you ever want to talk.

Gregor Gomory

Vision

Gregor Gomory brings more than a decade of experience in travel sales and management, product development and conservation management to the GBC executive team. A firm believer that the best way to create positive change is through life-changing experiences, Gomory is responsible for product, partnerships and green business initiatives.

When he’s not driving his business partners crazy he can be found hiking, reading travel magazines or lounging at the beach deciding what to grill for dinner.

Sebastian Riedel

Innovation

Sebastian Riedel has more than ten years of experience in software and database management and has acted as lead IT developer on countless large-scale projects for a wide variety of industries. At Global Basecamps, Riedel is responsible for overseeing every aspect of both the front-end and back-end technology and designing future GBC applications.

He brings a passion for the outdoors and a love of travel to the typically dry world of information technology and strives to ensure that the GBC site always runs at top capacity.

Michael D'Amico

Vigilance

Michael D’Amico has held sales, operations and management positions in the Hospitality and Retail Sales Industries for almost two decades. He is responsible for creating the GBC operating systems, drawing budgets, managing staff and resolving issues.

Mike has traveled around the world with his wife, Casey, and looks forward to showing his daughter Olivia how beautiful the world is.
